How To Improve Hip Internal Rotation For Better Movement

Hip internal rotation is an essential quality necessary for optimal movement. The hips must internally rotate to execute common exercises like squats and deadlift.

Often times, however, people are missing internal rotation at one or both of their hips, which can lead to other areas compensating to create the necessary movement.

Over time this can cause imbalances and dysfunctions within the body that lead to injury and pain.

Understanding how the hips are supposed to internally rotate, including at the pelvis and femurs, is a good starting place for correcting any limitation there.

Once you learn the proper biomechanics of the hips, you can then better understand exercises that can be used to improve this vital movement quality.

In today's video, Alex Effer explains the muscles and actions required for proper hip internal rotation, as well as two highly-effective exercises to improve internal rotation of the hips.
