The Best Weight Training Exercises To Fix A Lateral Pelvic Tilt (Hip Hike)
Mar 05, 2025
A lateral pelvic tilt or hip hike is a common dysfunction that many people experience. It is often caused by the pelvis rotating in one direction.
Most commonly, the pelvis rotates to the right, but there are two ways this can occur:
- The innominate bone of the left hip rotates toward the right, which causes a right-sided hip hike.
- The entire pelvis tilts to the right as a unit, which can result in excessive arching and movement through the lower back due to tension on the left side.
Once we identify the type of rotation, we can select the appropriate exercises to restore motion and improve movement patterns.
While corrective exercises on the ground can be helpful, I prefer addressing hip hikes through weight training.
In today’s video, I demonstrate four exercises you can use in the weight room to restore movement and build strength.
